We had a great stay at Williams place. Very secluded, but everything we needed was provided. If you really need to "get away from it all", this will do the trick. So peaceful. The town of Marshall is absolutely charming. What a fabulous and affordable weekend!

We were looking to unplug from city life and reconnect with nature. William came down to greet us and orient us to the property. We enjoyed our conversations with him! The Yurt is adorable. It's a well-stocked, comfortable little place, with an outdoor charcoal grill , indoor camp cookstove, plenty of propane, indoor sink and spring water, and a small wood burning stove (that we didn't use). The kitchen is outfitted with dishes and cookware. William thoughtfully added warm blankets which came in handy. The outhouse was about 35 paces from the camp fire ring. The view was incredible, being in the middle of a ravine, with a meadow on one side and a wall of trees on the other, and a stream running through the middle. We loved watching the stars pop out one by one at night and the crisp mornings were a welcome change from our hot summer. We took a nice nature walk where we found mushrooms, feathery ferns, thick moss covered rocks, countless Black Walnut trees full of walnuts, and the biggest elms we'd ever seen. The late summer flowers were in full bloom attracting lots of pollinators, especially hummingbirds. We took many pictures to remember our visit, but one thing that was hard to capture was the sound. It was so quiet except for the sounds of nature, a bubbling brook passing by the yurt, the many blue jays flying back and forth across the meadow, the endless symphony of crickets and toads, and the occasional night time howl of the coyotes. Venturing into Historic Marshall for a few hours, we found a few interesting items at the local charity store, My Sister's Place. A block down we enjoyed a couple of good brews on the rooftop deck of Madison County Brewing overlooking French Broad River and talking to a local doing the same. Lunch was at Zuma Cafe which made a delicious Reuben and Cobb Salad topped off with a Dirty Iced Chai. We took a long, winding, scenic drive along River Road all the way to Asheville afterwards. This was just what the doctor ordered!

This was my first time staying in an Airbnb - and this place did not disappoint! If you enjoy the outdoors, and a secluded place in nature, this is the place for you! William was a very friendly person, and communicated effectively and promptly leading up to my trip. His directions were spot-on - be sure to use them! Would gladly stay here again!

The dome was unlike any place I’ve stayed, it was magical escape in the middle of one of the most beautiful natural settings I’ve seen. Unfortunately, I was in town for work in Hot Springs which took up the majority of my time so I wasn’t able to take full advantage of the nature and serenity it provided but enjoyed every minute of the time I had. The yurt is set far back on the land so you really feel secluded and in the middle of nature. The sounds of the creek outside, the bugs on the tent and the wind were incredible. I hope to return one day under different circumstances when I have more time to relax and take advantage of the nature. William was such a kind, generous host and accomodated me at the very last minute. I was significantly delayed on my way in from Knoxville and felt pretty bad about it but William patiently awaited my arrival, collected me and my belongings from the bottom of the driveway, and showed me around the site. As a city girl who doesn’t drive very much, I was a little flustered when I arrived as I was not used to navigating the winding mountain roads in the dark. However, William’s directions were very clear and he could not have made me feel more comfortable when I arrived as a woman traveling alone in a place that I was unfamiliar with. I really appreciate his kindness. As it’s stated in the description, there is no service in the mountains and you can’t rely on GPS so make sure you prepare ahead of time and print out directions to the Crow’s Nest. If you don’t have a 4x4 and you’ll be leaving and returning, you can park at the bottom of the driveway and hike up the driveway which is what I did. The yurt was stocked with the essentials like flashlights/laterns, cookingwear, utensils, a gas burner, a sink with water, and a cooler with ice. Outhouse was a short walk away. Overall, an amazing place if you’re looking to connect with nature. Thank you for having me!

We truly miss Will and his beautiful, peaceful, memory filled place. If you get a chance to stay at his place, you are truly lucky because you will get to experience Will's generosity, never-die spirit and probably being your faith back in humanity. He starts that asking you to specifically print directions to his place (which is absolutely a must), then he will give you a ride upto the Yurt/studio in his 4x4 as any Fwd will not make it. His yurt/studio truly have emotional value as the yurt is made by his daughter while the studio used to be Will's late wife's weaving studio. He upgraded us to the studio as it was available and because it was raining. Both places are very self-sustaining and you can comfortably stay/sleep listening to wild birds, animals and critters call outside. If you get sometime, do spend time talking to Will. He's a professor and then a nurse and also a rain-water harvesting naturalist. Truly a very multi-faceted, down-to-earth , very friendly open person. He even let us use the shower at his place. Truly a wonderful person and experience all around. We are/we're truly sad that we only planned and spent a night there. We will definitely go back just to spend time on the farm and learn more from Will. Dear Will, thanks for sharing your family abode, heart and home to complete strangers like us. Thanks for everything. We are truly sad that we only got to spend a night at your place. We hope to come back soon and spend longer time with you and on your beautiful farm/property.

This could not have been a better experience. We originally had the yert but because it had been colder, William upgraded us to the studio next to his house. The studio was beautiful but what made the trip was the little things Will did for us like have coffee ready for us in the morning and fire set up and ready to light. He's not lying when he says you NEED a 4x4 vehicle but if he don't, he is more than happy to pick you from the bottom of his driveway. We would absolutely stay here with him again!
