We are only a couple of minutes walk from a footpath which takes you across the fields and onto the famous Lymington to Keyhaven Solent Way Walk and Nature reserve. The mosaic of ponds, ditches, and lagoons on the reserve support a large number of wetland plants and animals. In winter wading birds including Black-tailed Godwit, Curlew and Lapwing feed in the flooded pastures alongside Wigeon and Brent Geese. Spring sees the arrival of migrants from the south. Wheatears appear on the shingle at Iley Point and Whitethroats sing from clumps of bramble along the Ancient Highway. In early summer look out for Linnets and Stonechats perched on Gorse bushes around the reserve. Plants flowering on the seawall include Sea Pink, Rock Samphire and Sea Campion. In late summer the ditches are full of the purple- flowered Sea Aster, often attracting Wall Brown and Painted Lady butterflies. Several species of dragonfly patrol the waterways catching insects or searching for a mate. Mammals too make a home on the reserve, Roe Deer and Hares are frequently seen around Normandy Marsh while numerous mice and voles provide food for hunting Barn Owls.

ABOUT LYMINGTON
Lymington is a pretty Georgian market town in the south of the New Forest, Hampshire. It is surrounded on three sides by the New Forest National Park, offering a delightful combination of wooded forest and open heathland. The town sits on the western bank of the beautiful Lymington River, leading onto the Solent, with idyllic views of the unspoilt coastline and the Isle of Wight. To the west of Lymington is a coastal nature reserve to Keyhaven and Hurst Castle, recognised as a site of Special Scientific Interest.

Lymington’s town centre was predominantly built in Georgian times and has a number of very fine and attractive Georgian buildings, which lend an air of history and elegance, in particular along the High Street, with its hotels, inns, shops and other businesses. There are a number of excellent boutique shops and independent cafés, with a good choice of well-known retail outlets.

The large and busy Charter Market has origins back to the 13th century and fills both sides of the High Street from Church Street to Quay Street all day every Saturday, come rain or shine. The cobbled Quay Street leads down to the Old Town Quay, still used as a base by local fishing boats.

Lymington boasts a variety of restaurants for all tastes, and many excellent pubs, both in the town centre and on the outskirts, as well as further afield in many of the nearby New Forest villages

A major yachting centre with three marinas; Lymington is the heart of the UK’s acknowledged Sailing Mecca and famous for its connections with Sir Ben Ainslie and other sailing legends.

The open-air Sea Water Baths date from 1833 and has recently been restored, making a popular activity for locals and visitors throughout the summer months. The town also boasts a successful coastal rowing club and a host of other watersports including kayaking, powerboating and paddle-boarding.

Lymington has a vibrant marine industry, from chandlers, yacht sales and race crew management to yacht service, marine engineering and components.

Between Forest and Sea: a wonderful place to live - or visit!

With all this in mind, it’s not surprising that Lymington is one of the “Best UK Coastal Towns in Which to Live”. Combined with accessible road and rail links north to London, west to Bournemouth and east to Southampton and beyond, as well as the car ferry service to Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, the town combines practicality with pleasure; the perfect work-life balance. There is a wealth of local sports, clubs and leisure activities.

We are only 20 minutes walk into Lymington Town Centre and a short distance from the bus stop !
A short drive across the forest to Beaulieu Village , Motor Museum and Palace House.

Step back in time on the banks of the Beaulieu River at the peaceful haven of Buckler's Hard. Discover what it was like to live and work in an 18th century shipbuilding village; home to the ships built for Nelson's fleet at Trafalgar.

Today, the village continues to thrive, unspoilt by the passage of time; As you stroll along the nearby Woodland Walk you will discover how the local timber at Buckler's Hard was used in the 18th and 19th centuries to construct ships for the British Navy.

Visit the Maritime Museum which tells the story of this unique village, bringing to life the characters who lived here at the time of Henry Adams, the Master Shipbuilder at Buckler's Hard between 1744 and 1805. Historic displays in the Labourer's and Shipwright's cottages show how the village would

We love travelling , learning about new places and meeting people. Our favourite thing to do is to spend as much time as I can in the New Forest National Park which is where we live . It's one of the most beautiful places we know.
Durante tu estadía
I generally think most guests like to come and go and have their own private space so as you have your own private gated entrance , your own front door and outdoor courtyard seating area, your own key safe to access the keys and your own cycle storage space then you don't need to see us at all ! If you do need anything we will be at the end of the phone if we are not in. Or if you really want to see us that is fine to ! We won't bother you unless you want us to !
