Lambton Shores, Ontario

When deciding whether to become an Airbnb Host, it's important to understand the laws in your city. As a platform and marketplace, we do not provide legal advice, but want to provide some useful links that may help you understand the laws and regulations in Lambton Shores. This list is not exhaustive, but it may give you a good start in understanding your local laws. We’ll periodically update this information as more becomes available.

Registration

The Municipality of Lambton Shores requires Hosts to register with the municipality in order to operate short-term rentals. Hosts are responsible for applying for the registration certificate. You can review and fill in the licensing application or call 519-243-1400 extension 4 should you have any questions. You can also learn more about the bylaw.

Once you submit your registration, the city will review your application. If approved, a license number will be issued, which you’ll need to add to your listing to comply with the requirements.

Licensing (effective February 1, 2023)

The Municipality of Lambton Shores requires Hosts to obtain short-term rental licenses beginning February 1, 2023. Hosts will be responsible for applying for the license. Details about applying for a license will be sent directly to registered Hosts, and more information about the licensing program is available. If you have additional questions, call 519-243-1400 extension 4.

Other contracts and rules

As a Host, you need to understand and abide by the contracts and rules that bind you, including leases, co-op rules, HOA rules, or others established by tenant organizations. You can find out more by contacting your housing authority (such as a community council) or landlord. Your lease (or other contract) might also include specific details.

Our commitment to your community

We are committed to working with local officials to help them understand how Airbnb benefits our communities. Where needed, we will continue to advocate for changes that will allow regular people to rent out their own homes.
