Qué harás

Shinrin-yoku is a wellness vacation where stress and schedules are left behind and breath, stillness, joy, wonder, and self are re-discovered. Your walk will begin with a welcoming circle where we will share our names and a little about why we're all here, then your guide will ground you to the land with an ecological overview, awarenesses, and a brief history of this practice. This is your time to disconnect from responsibilities and screens and re-discover awe as you enter the forest. Your guide will offer an evolving series of suggested invitations crafted to help you slow down, open your senses, and deepen your connection with nature. After each invitation, there is an opportunity to share what you noticed in a supportive, nonjudgmental circle. Your walk will be less than a mile and will take two hours as we focus on the journey, not the destination. Your walk will close with a tea ceremony and you'll be offered guidance for re-entering the human world. We invite you to develop a meaningful relationship with nature by returning again and again throughout the natural cycles of the seasons.

The Resiliency Institute has been connecting people to nature for over five years through our various courses, classes, and nature connection experiences. Shinrin-yoku walks are led by guides certified by the Association of Nature & Forest Therapy and certified in Wilderness First Aid. Our guides may also have certifications and/or training as a naturalist, herbalist, permaculture designer, yoga instructor and/or edible wild plant identification. Our guides are amazing people who have a passion for nature and connecting people to the therapeutic power of the forest.

Donde estarás

This 15-acre woods is an oak woodland with a meandering stream and several regionally rare plants, such as yellow trout lily, pagoda dogwood and toad trillium. A variety of birds forage and nest here, too, including regionally rare red-headed woodpeckers, yellow-billed cuckoos, broad-winged hawks and wood thrushes. Ecologists have recorded hundreds of invertebrates who call this woods home.

You will be walking very slowly and quietly as you use your senses to tune in to the forest. This is not a plant id, foraging walk or hike. Emphasis is on mindfulness and sensory experience.
