Qué harás

Join us to explore the historic streets of Washington's oldest neighborhood! Established fifty years before the Capital, Georgetown began as a gritty port city on the banks of the Potomac River, described by Abigail Adams as a "dirty little hole". Despite its modest start, Georgetown is now home to palatial mansions, elegant cemeteries, stately churches, and a world class University. We'll explore the highlights and secrets of DC's most exclusive neighborhood, while learning about Georgetown's transformation in this rags to riches tale.
Other things to note
Our Georgetown tour does involved some steep hills and uneven sidewalks, so please wear sturdy shoes.

Carolyn, Sam, and Christine of DC Design Tours are three history buff architecture nerds with a passion for story telling!

Carolyn is a former architect and life-long lover of all things brick and mortar. She prefers to talk about buildings than draw them. The District has been her home since 2006, and when not guiding, you can find her counting columns at the National Building Museum (there are 152) and traipsing through Rock Creek National Park.

Sam is an enthusiast for architectural design, history, and talking a mile a minute. Originally from the Bluegrass State, he's a full fledged Washingtonian now.

Christine is a trained architect and longtime DC local. She's worked on projects at the U.S. Capitol, Library of Congress, and other famous Washington landmarks!

Donde estarás

We'll visit the unassuming oldest building in the city, peak into back alleys, gaze down a dramatic set of famous stairs, cross the old C&O Canal, and finish up on the banks of the Potomac River at the gorgeous Georgetown Waterfront.

I had a great time on this tour. Each stop had a unique story and the whole route is easy on the eyes. While it quite hot outside, she did a good job of trying to keep everyone in the shade as much as possible.

This was a fascinating tour and Carolyn was very knowledgeable. I've been to DC before, but never made it to Georgetown before today. It's a wonderful and charming neighborhood. Next time I'm in DC I'll definitely check out DC Design Tours again.

We had a private tour of Georgetown with Carolyn. She tells a fascinating story of the history and was deliberate in her engagement of each of our children. We were in DC to visit Georgetown University and she tailored the tour so we could see part of the campus since there are no official campus tours in the time of Covid. I would highly recommend her tour!
