Sumi-e painting lessons has been life long dream to learn properly as I hacked away at it not knowing anything as as teenager. This Air BNB experience is so unique, professional and so personal! Great for all levels of artistic ability and Kyokos 2 friends couldn't be more sweet and friendly! Having this time here to learn painting and my first lesson being from a woman, master, Kyoko has been priceless! I wasn't into trying on a kimono, but what a privilege that was and it is so comfortable!! They are super organized so roll with what they have planned, its perfect!

I cannot emphasize enough how awesome this experience was. Kyoko was an excellent teacher and had some wonderfully kind friends and assistants along helping actively and teaching. I learned about some key basics of ink painting and got to paint and practice painting before actually painting on some beautiful silk. I also had and got the pleasure of learning about and seeing a bit of her husband's kimono design and painting and making. Wow! Where else can you find that? I'm not sure but it was so authentic and genuine that I cannot recommend this enough. Lastly, I was able to try on one of Kyoko's absolutely stunning kimonos. What an honor. The whole experience was wonderful!

An amazing experience for anybody interested in craft or painting techniques. I learnt a lot about Sumi-e as well as about kimonos and how they're designed. I was even lucky enough to try on a kimono for the first time and got to wear it for a couple little while as we had tea and treats. I left with a framed art as well as some of my prework and a little origami gift. I also left with a big smile on my face! Well worth the bus journey from the city centre.
