It's location provides a relaxing getaway while being centrally based for exploring the Lake District, the Solway Coast, the border city of Carlisle, Hadrians wall and the Scottish border. A bus service runs through the village daily which will link you to Carlisle and West Cumbria including the Lakes. You'll find a shop 2.3 miles and a pub just 50 yards.

The perfect romantic retreat, Swallows Rest, is a converted 18th century hay barn. Belonging to the 17th century Grade II listed High Greenrigg House, it offers all the modern conveniences whilst retaining the character of such an historic building. The ground floor contains an open plan living room, dining area and fully fitted kitchen. There is a utility room accessed via a low stone doorframe. Upstairs is a mezzanine floor with king size bed, balcony and luxurious shower room

A shepherds hut situated on the edge of the Lake District overlooking the Solway Firth, offering guests all the experience of outdoorsy glamping while providing a warm and cosy home to retreat to if the good old British weather takes a turn for the worse! it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. If you are bringing your furry friends, please add when booking under number of guests and let us know. Theres a small fee per stay of £20 to cover the costs of a deep clean.

Switch off in quiet Bassenthwaite village in peaceful valley between lake & mighty Skiddaw mountain, 15 mins from popular market town Keswick - enjoy an open fire, Sun Inn pub 2 mins away (booking recommended), walks for all abilities (many from the door) & our runner ducks - if you want quieter lakes, villages & towns or the most popular locations, all accessible. 12 noon checkout on Sundays after 2 night weekends. The cottage is called Jemima Puddle Duck Cottage.
